Mosaic, my passion....

You’ll find here a gallery of works made with the use of various techniques, but mosaic is the kind of art I’d like to pay your particular attention to. I made other works shown here using drawing and painting techniques and for me they’re a kind of supplement of a wide artistic potential which you can use to enrich interior or make it interesting and remarkable.

Mosaic has its roots in the Antique, small and selected pieces of high quality materials such as: marble, glass, stone and so called smalti cut by hand to get the best effect possible. It’s very stunning, untypical, and solid technique of finishing and decorating interior, it can be also put on walls, floors, stairs, window frames, swimming pools, churches, chapels as well as small things such as: chests, lamps, mirrors, screens, tops of tables, paperweights and many other. The only element limiting mosaic is our imagination.

My adventure with mosaic started few years ago in Italy, where all works I’ve made so far are left.
As a technique demanding a lot of patience, accuracy and, above all, time I particularly started to be interested in mosaic. Making unique pictures from little tessers suitably cut and made of various materials makes mosaic the most charming form of art for me. I use in my works not only materials of highest quality mentioned above but to avoid resting on my laurels, meet expectations of more and more demanding customers and make my works more diverse, I introduce to my mosaics such materials as: precious stones, semi-precious stones, river pearls, pebbles, pieces of wood, shells, grit, millefiori etc.

The language of mosaics is so unique comparing with language of painting but they share the same sensitivity to colour and light.
Mosaic tessers, those made of a special type of glass (the most popular is smalti veneziani) in particular, allow to unique penetration of light, that’s why their brightness is so chracteristic, much higher than brightness obtained by other materials. Even in semi-dark they shimmer distinctively. The spectator, intrigued with such an effect, so to speak is forced to follow, look at them from different angles to find each detail of work what makes mosaic very dynamic and lively and the technique itself is a very noble way of artist’s expression.

Each mosaic results from a long-time planning, starting with a design, through choice of materials, making it manually and finally assembling a finished work. Opportunity to use mosaic not only inside the buildings but on façades, many dimensions of decorated surfaces make mosaic so unique and it become a bridge between architecture and painting due to light colours and sculpture due to untypical structure.
As a technique, mosaic offers unlimited opportunities to create unique decorations, adds variety to interior which acquires untypical, individual and representative character.
So nothing left but to invite you to look at my gallery of mosaic works only. Enjoy your time!
